What happened in Maui breaks my heart. It is a beautiful island full of native people who love and preserve the land, and their native way of life. They share this with tourists, supporting or supplementing their families through the tourism industry. Maui is a vacation destination the natives are proud to share with the rest of the world. One day during hurricane season 2023, something the people deal with every year, high winds threaten the island. Natives know how to deal with this. They’ve been doing so for generations.
Except this time it was different. The government failed to shut off the power grid, a means of preventing fires by downed power lines. Kids were sent home from school without their parent’s knowledge - trapped, confused, lost, scared. Missing. Over 1,000 kids still haven’t been found or accounted for in this tragedy.
The Maui governor declared water a sacred resource, and turned off the water supply. People couldn’t use their own hoses to try to save their homes, or even water down a trail to try to escape the smoke and flames. The siren system to warn the people of impending danger remained silent. Police set up barricades preventing people from leaving. The narrative is that they were blocking unsafe pathways. Except there was only one real route to go anywhere around the island, so blocking it meant penning people in, preventing their escape from the flames. Many burned alive in their cars. Others somehow made their way to the ocean, where they stayed for hours watching their homes and families burn. Many of these people were still unaware their children were in danger, never to be found again.
Then news comes out that government can buy the land at fire sale prices, if it is destroyed by a natural disaster. Without missing a beat, mainstream media, Joey, Hawaiian government officials, even Oprah all join forces claiming climate change is responsible for this disaster. Within a few days, they start offering to buy the land lost in the Maui fires, from the natives who own it.
Except this wasn’t a natural disaster, and climate change had nothing to do with it. This was an epic failure by government, to follow normal mandatory protocols, that would have saved the people and preserved many of their homes. The people in Maui are having none of it. They have already been displaced. They are being isolated. They have literally lost everything, except their fellow citizens joining together to fend off this wicked power grab for their land. And they are still being failed by government.
Joey said he will give them a lousy $700 for this tragedy. That’s not even enough for a place to stay, and it certainly isn’t enough to provide ongoing food and water for them. All the while, Joey brags about sending more money to Ukraine. Billions of more dollars allocated for Ukraine, while American citizens struggle to find their missing children and keep their land. What is going on in Ukraine?! We had a train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio that displaced and injured an entire town not long ago. Joey still hasn’t visited, and the people there are not getting compensated for their injuries from ingesting extremely toxic chemicals. The water isn’t safe, the ground isn’t safe. The people are getting sick. Joey allocated more money for Ukraine during this tragedy too. Is there something going on that we don’t know about in Ukraine? Are American lives so disposable that we need to keep sending more money to Ukraine, when Americans are losing everything and suffering here on American soil?
FEMA and other government help sets up shop in Maui, nearly an hour away in luxury hotels. Natives begin getting the word out that they are not allowed entry to their land, even weeks after the fire. They share heartbreaking stories about how the government is failing them once again, because all the supplies, resources and necessities they are supposed to be receiving, aren’t being given to the people suffering from this tragedy. They are being asked to sign non-disclosure agreements. They are being offered fire sale prices for their land. They are saying no to the government. They are relying on help and supplies from other natives on neighboring islands. They are warning compassionate Americans to only give to specified local organizations, because they won’t receive our help if we give through normal, government approved and non-government organization channels.
Natives are challenging the government. Government holds situational meetings, to update the people on progress, death toll and other information. My eyes well up with tears every time I listen to the natives defend their lives, culture and the sacred ground of their ancestors. They are literally being forced from their land, while the government refuses to provide necessities and required information to help them heal and rebuild from this catastrophe.
Any government that is powerful enough to give you anything you want, is powerful enough to take everything from you. How does government get this powerful? Money has a lot to do with it, our tax dollars spent recklessly and without accountability. Billions and billions of dollars to Ukraine. I’d like an audit please. I’d like an accounting for every last penny, and how it was spent to shorten the war, and help the people there. If nothing else, I’d like the truth. What is really going on in Ukraine, and why is our government sending so many billions of dollars there? It’s enough money to make me think Congress should move to make Ukraine our 51st state. Surely we’ve literally bought and paid for it several times over by now. If anything, Ukraine should be giving us a bit of a refund in the final transaction.
Meanwhile, American citizens on American soil continue to be disregarded by our government. In New Mexico they are banning guns. In California parents risk losing their kids to the foster care system, if they don’t agree with certain public school mandates and protocols. As if the government and teachers should have more say in a child’s life than their parents. Sanctuary cities across the nation are demanding something be done about immigration policies, because they can’t afford to house, feed and clothe all these people. Real American citizens are being displaced by too many illegal immigrants flooding their cities. Officials need our Federal Government to step up and change their border policies, so they can take care of Americans being negatively affected in their cities. I have nothing against immigrants seeking a better life. I simply don’t agree that Americans don’t deserve as good a life, as everyone else we are obliged to help, through unaccounted for government spending, policy and mandates.

This is just so sad ......it is hard to watch all the families asking for help! the reason we are sending all of this money to Ukraine.......it is being laundered, coming right back to corps here to supply them with artillery's and ammo. And who has interests in this corps.......Vanguard, Blackrock and State Street!!! They and their affiliates are becoming quite wealthy !!!!! And, I am sure that some of it is being passed on to the Biden those in his administration !!!!
